| Position Overview: |
| The position supports Energy New England’s Operations team, managing the energy price risk associated with fuel and power supply contracts and generation assets throughout New England. This individual will research natural gas and oil supply/demand fundamental and technical market drivers to develop market reports for hedging plan and strategy development, customer presentation, recommendation and reporting. Recommend and/or execute financial fuel hedging in natural gas, oil and power products, and their impact on regional and customer generation dispatch. Responsibilities include developing fuel price scenarios and relating their impact to power purchases and sales. The position requires strong analytical and communications skills, a high degree of flexibility, and an in-depth understanding of how the fuel and energy markets relate to one another. |
| Key Objectives: |
|
· Research and develop reports on fundamental natural gas and oil markets, including crude, residual products, and heating oil. · Develop market assessments of regional gas delivery options including storage and defining procurement strategies for natural gas and fuel oil fired generation facilities and end users. · Manage customer relationships including educational outreach, activity and performance reporting. · Contribute to new and enhanced product and service development to support wholesale and end user business platforms. |
| Position Requirements: |
|
· BS degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or related discipline · Prior fuel management or energy market experience · Understanding of fundamental energy supply and demand influencers · Working knowledge of technical price indicators · Experience with the physical delivery of natural gas and/or oil products in the Northeast · A basic understanding of the northeast power pool markets preferred · Excellent software skills including spreadsheets, database applications, statistical and option modeling and analysis packages. · Excellent communication skills, ability to present to and work with customers. |
